Spear’s Review

Fintech entrepreneur Anthony Thomson, who is already known for founding UK banking giant Metro Bank, as well as digital-only challenger bank Atom Bank and Australian neobank 86 400, is adding another venture to his entrepreneurial portfolio.

He joins the Spear’s Power List as he launches the first fundraising round for a new bank designed specifically for family offices and UHNWs.

Thomson aims to raise £500 million over the next five years to establish the bank, targeting a £10 billion balance sheet and a planned launch in late 2026. The new lender, called Family Offices Bank and initially based in Jersey, will combine modern banking technology with recent developments in the field of AI to offer bespoke solutions designed to meet the unique needs of family offices and UHNWs.
