Marc Andreessen
Spear’s Review
Marc Andreessen is the co-founder and general partner of US venture capital firm Andreessen Horowitz, making him one of the most powerful financiers in the world. His firm has mainly invested in technology – including AI, cryptocurrency, fintech and bio-healthcare – with $46 billion in committed capital across multiple funds.
Andreessen made his billions during the genesis of the internet. He co-created the Mosaic internet browser in 1993, and co-founded Netscape, which was acquired by AOL in 1998 for $4.2 billion.
Currently on the board of Meta, Andreessen is an advocate for free speech online, having publicly criticised the UK government’s Online Safety Act for its supposed censorship. He has also been associated with US President Donald Trump’s political efforts, having worked with Elon Musk in the Department of Government Efficiency, reportedly as an ‘unpaid intern’.
