Daniel Channing

Spear’s Review

Daniel Channing serves as Whitmill’s group head of private client services, and sits on the management board of the trust and fiduciary services firm.

Channing and his team act as directors of offshore companies, carrying out the administration of legal structures to assist trustees and beneficiaries. Channing also advises his clients – who are multigenerational wealth holders – on issues surrounding succession and family governance, which he emphasises is vital to the success of the structures in place.

‘What I’ve tended to find is that simply putting in a complicated legal structure won’t actually make anyone’s lives any easier,’ he tells Spear’s. ‘You need the governance, so that people understand about information flows, reporting, who has what role, how those roles are communicated to those individuals, so that they truly understand the responsibilities they have.’
