The GP clinic’s team includes his wife, Dr Jill Harling, daughter Dr Sophie Ladbrooke and daughter-in-law Estefania Fernandez, who is the practice manager.

Although based in South Kensington and serving local patients, the practice is well equipped to treat those who live overseas and even has a number of clients who have left the UK but return for regular check-ups. ‘We are family-friendly; we give patients a lot of time. People have my mobile; they can get one of us 24/7,’ Ladbrooke tells Spear’s.

Autonomy from third-party healthcare franchises is a priority: ‘We are not going to become like the vets, the dentists and the chemists who are all part of a franchise. We want to be independent of all that.’
