The GP clinic’s team includes his wife, Dr Jill Harling, daughter Dr Sophie Ladbrooke and daughter-in-law Estefania, who is the practice manager.

Although based in South Kensington and serving local patients, the practice is well equipped to treat those who live overseas and even has a number of clients who have left the UK but return for regular check-ups. ‘We are family friendly, we give patients a lot of time. People have my mobile; they can get one of us 24/7,’ Ladbrooke tells Spear’s when asked what attracts clients to his care.

Autonomy from third-party healthcare franchises is a priority: ‘We are not going to become like the vets, the dentists and the chemists who are all part of a franchise. We want to be independent of all that.’
