Amelie Sarrado
Spear’s Review
Amelie Sarrado, a director in the President’s Office at Christie’s, tells Spear’s that the world is living through two interesting revolutions: the first is the great wealth transfer and the second is the arrival of a digital-native generation who are reshaping traditional markets, including art. These forces aren’t abstract, she says, but are directly shaping her day-to-day work with UHNW and next-gen collectors.
Sarrado’s role involves working with individuals and families holding collections that often exceed $100 million in value. Her remit is multigenerational and long-term: ‘My work begins well before a collection changes hands. I sit down with families, often across three generations, and help them navigate incredibly complex emotional, logistical and financial decisions.’
Though much of her advisory is strategic, Sarrado brings a deep personal love of the material. ‘I have a soft spot for antiquities. The fact that they’ve survived thousands of years is a good reminder to keep our cool in times of trouble.’
