Spear’s Review

Greenwood Place was started in 2017, with two clients to its name. Now, the philanthropy consultancy has worked with more than 30 families and foundations, and has awarded more than £100 million in grants to charities in the UK and internationally.

Co-founder Rebecca Eastmond tells Spear’s that Greenwood Place exists to ‘enable [clients] to give well, feel confident in their giving [and] build relationships with the organisations that they support’. Clients, who typically give more than £1 million per year, can also feel reassured of the firm’s strong professional backing, which ensures ‘the right decisions are made’.

Greenwood Place primarily facilitates grant-making; other services include due diligence and impact reporting, as well as governance support, strategy curation and insight, and learning development. It also benefits from partnerships, such as that with the Gates Foundation, which has pledged almost $1 million to encourage philanthropists in the UK to give more.
