One of Adrian Au’s first cases involved a significant family dispute with assets and holdings in excess of £2 billion. ‘That dispute really tore the family apart,’ says Au, now a partner at Tanner de Witt. ‘I got to realise that it is very important to retain harmony within a family.’

Au works across the full remit of family law, including prenuptial agreements, children arrangements and divorces, as well as surrogacy, adoptions, wills and contentious probate. Many of Au’s clients are entrepreneurs and business leaders who live in Hong Kong or mainland China, or who have material ties to the region.

‘Clients come to us because we have a reputation for creating solutions, and for resolving and diffusing disputes early in the proceedings, such that the family harmony is maintained,’ Au tells Spear’s.
