Spear's Review

Nick Brett founded the specialist media and litigation firm Brett Wilson in 2010 with his business partner, Ian Wilson

Focused on criminal disciplinary matters, Brett’s work spans a wide variety of offences, from regulatory investigations to serious crime. Many of his cases sit at the intersection of crime and reputation management and involve clients who are likely to experience unwanted media exposure following their arrest. Past cases include Serious Fraud Office investigations, sexual misconduct allegations and high-profile motoring offences. His success in Beckwith v Solicitors Regulation Authority [2020] EWHC 3231 has led to an increase in instructions from solicitors and barristers who find themselves on the wrong side of the law.

Other clients include HNWs, senior executives at major companies and sports stars. In recent years, he has also seen an increase in asset forfeiture, particularly for clients who are facing sanctions.

Adviser Profile

Nick is a founding partner of Brett Wilson and a leading regulatory and criminal defence solicitor. He is frequently instructed by legal and City professionals facing misconduct investigations and prosecutions. He is also recognised for his expertise in asset restraint and forfeiture cases.

Nick recently acted for Jo Sidhu KC in defeating 25 out of the 28 professional misconduct allegations against him. He has been instrumental in shaping the regulatory landscape, particularly in connection with sexual misconduct cases, and acted for Ryan Beckwith in a landmark case in this area. Nick has been instructed in some of the leading criminal and disciplinary cases in recent times.
