Tom Rutt
Spear’s Review
Tom Rutt is the founding director of architecture and interior design firm TR Studio.
Established in 2015, the studio caters to private clients – including entrepreneurs and industry leaders – who seek out Rutt to design London mews houses, French chalets, Italian villas, Cotswolds retreats, and Dubai residences and wellness studios.
How does Rutt earn his clients’ trust? He tells Spear’s: ‘We treat it very much like a personal relationship as much as a business relationship. We can understand the intricacies and complications of the amount of decisions that you need to make when designing a product or designing a project.’
While Rutt does not have a specific style that he adheres to, he cites 1990s minimalism, Classicism and Modernism as inspirations; ultimately, the project outcomes are led by the client and the surroundings. ‘I don’t think we’ve taken on any project without seeing the site, because the moment you see the site, you start to get a feel for the site and you start to get excited for it.’
