David Stedman leads Clarke Willmott’s commercial litigation practice in Birmingham, acting for clients in matters involving professional negligence, breach of contract, partnership disputes, misrepresentation, breach of confidence and defamation claims.

He has a particular specialism in classic and sports car disputes, including the issues that arise from the sale and purchase of misdescribed, defective or faulty autos. Clients include auction houses, high-profile individuals, car collectors and restorers. In one case, he represented a former Formula One driver in a negligent damage claim, after the client’s classic Porsche was damaged during a test drive by a journalist.

Stedman, who joined the firm in 2014 and was promoted to partner in 2023, also benefits from access to the firm’s nationally renowned private client team, which means he is able to offer a broad spectrum of advice to HNW individuals managing their classic car portfolio.
