Edward Burton
Spear’s Review
Edward Burton works across the spectrum of residential property law at Maurice Turnor Gardner, where he was minted as a partner in 2020. The loquacious Oxford graduate joined the firm in 2013, after training at Allen & Overy, and his expertise is sought on everything from listed properties to lease extensions.
In recent years, Burton has noted an increase in US buyers, who are attracted to the UK’s education system, culture and way of life, he tells Spear’s. ‘London retains a great deal of attraction for international buyers ... but we continue to see a lot of wealthy UK buyers.’
The key to his success? Reading the paper. Burton insists property lawyers must be aware of current events, ‘because a lot of the time it’s what your clients are looking at as well, and you need to have some insight into what’s driving their behaviour and decision-making’.
