Having left the banking world for the wine industry, Ella Lister saw a need for a data-driven approach to wine investment.

She launched Wine Lister in 2016 in order to bring ‘analytical rigour’ to wine investment. The innovative platform combines both qualitative and quantitative data, including aggregated critic scores, popularity and distribution, analysed via complex algorithms. Wines are then evaluated, much like a credit rating system, and given a score out of 1,000.

‘Fine wine, which is now an asset class, needs to have a truly objective and independent way of rating and evaluating,’ said Lister. The platform has proven a hit among merchants and collectors alike.
