Spear’s Review
A co-founder of Thomson Heath Jenkins & Associates (alongside his esteemed colleague Mark Thomson), James Heath has worked in the field of media litigation for more than a decade, specialising in defamation, breach of privacy, breach of confidence and harassment.
Notable recent cases include acting for Ian Hurst, the ex-military intelligence officer whose computers were hacked and emails intercepted by the News of the World; advising a large bank in relation to reputation management following an adverse broadcast; and being appointed the lead solicitor for the claimants in phone-hacking litigation against the Mirror newspaper group.
As well as his litigation work, Heath provides pre-publication advice to clients and performs crisis management for individuals who find themselves subject to unwanted press attention.
Adviser Profile
Highly experienced, Heath has acted in a string of groundbreaking cases throughout his career, representing numerous high-profile and UHNW individuals and companies at the highest level. Acting regularly in the High Court, Court of Appeal and Supreme Court, Heath is mentioned in numerous successful High Court judgments. When not litigating, Heath advises clients on protecting themselves from unwanted media attention and is a calm voice in a crisis, providing sage advice.
Heath comes highly recommended in the industry, variously described as ‘dynamic, talented and conscientious’, ‘bright and perceptive’ and ‘a next-generation lawyer and a rising star’ who ‘carries out difficult and demanding roles with great skill’.
