Jonathan Bramwell, formerly head of Knight Frank’s ultra-bespoke specialist buying consultancy, launched his own buying agency, Bramwell Prime Property Search, in 2024.
With more than 30 years in the country market, Bramwell has carved out an impressive niche among discerning UHNWs looking to secure top-tier country houses and estates with utmost discretion. He says having an independent firm gives him free rein to take on a low volume of clients and provide a highly personalised service.
Most of his work has been conducted off- or pre-market, and he always takes into consideration the unique circumstances of each client. ‘The key is not missing out on these opportunities,’ he tells Spear’s. ‘If you miss it, you don’t know when it is going to come along again.’
Indeed, Bramwell, who has been described by peers as a ‘walking encyclopaedia’, makes securing extraordinary deals appear routine.

Bramwell Prime Property Search provides retained buyers with a discreet, independent buying service specialising in prime country houses, farms and estates over £3 million west of London or £1.5 million-plus in the Cotswolds. They do not sell to avoid conflicts and only act for a select number of clients.
With over 30 years in the country market, Jonathan Bramwell founded Bramwell PPS in 2024; prior to this, he ran the buying agencies for Knight Frank and Savills. Brought up and living in the Cotswolds and Chilterns, his property career began in 1989. He worked for a real estate broker in Charlottesville, Virginia, before returning to university in the UK. He then started as a sales agent for Savills in 1993, working in Bath, Henley and its London country department. In 2000, he became a buying agent. He has since advised domestic and international clients on over £2.5 billion of acquisitions, and has bought some of the most prestigious houses and estates to the west of London, with values ranging to over £50 million.
Increasingly, best-in-class does not come to the open market; the higher the price, the more likely this is. Jonathan gives access to these opportunities via his trusted relationships with sales agents and an intelligence network of professionals and locals, saving time by filtering out the undesirable and proactively searching for the desirable.
