When Jonathan Harington founded Haringtons in 2004, it was one of the first pure buying agencies in the UK.

Harington – who has been a buying agent since 1986 and who also established the purchasing arms of Lane Fox (now Strutt & Parker) and Knight Frank – operates his agency on a ‘quality over quantity’ ethos. It is based heavily on his fundamental belief in being a ‘search agent’, rather than a buying agent. The key distinction, he says, is making sure that ‘clients don’t miss a property’, whether it is on the market or off-market.

He adds that he only takes on a small number of domestic and overseas clients at one time – always on an exclusive basis. And with 40 years of experience to draw upon, Harington has been able to source some truly exceptional opportunities in recent years.
