The primary focus of his work is selling second, third and fourth homes in Europe’s hottest and coldest locations, from St Tropez to the Alps. Harvey notes that while Switzerland and Monaco remain ever-popular with the internationally wealthy, UHNWs are also drawn to the lifestyle offerings – and often equally favourable tax schemes – of Italy and Portugal.
He also notes that clients are increasingly treating their second homes as money earners, rather than pure lifestyle investments.
‘My advice is that however rich someone is, they should not be leaving their property empty. It is tricky to justify the running costs, and renting it out can make it a more efficient asset.’
