Nigel Rowley, a consultant at HCR Law since early 2025, advises national and international clients on business development and a spectrum of dispute resolution matters, many with a multi-jurisdictional element. Formerly managing partner at Mackrell Solicitors, he brings with him almost 40 years of experience.

‘I think the time has gone when you’re just describing yourself as a disputes lawyer or a litigation lawyer, because I think that buttonholes you too much into one particular corner,’ he tells Spear’s. Rowley has considerable experience of international business and an enviable black book of contacts, and his clients often don’t just want legal advice. ‘People tend to come to me more for strategy than anything else,’ he explains.  

‘If you really want to take a business anywhere these days, it has got to have an international flavour to it,’ he adds. ‘If you don’t have international aspirations, you’re always going to be stunting your growth to a certain extent.’
