Founded by Paul Michaels in 1963, and with a classic car showroom in East Finchley and a restoration department around the corner, its longevity is down to the quality of the cars. ‘The number one rule is: buy the best that you can afford,’ Michaels explains. ‘We have only ever tried to supply the best, never the cheapest, and we’ve always been lucky to deal with really good cars.’
Michaels points to lower demand for ‘marginal’ marques as a salutary lesson in buying the finest you can. ‘There is a massive gap between prime and not so prime,’ he says.
