Richard Ellison

Spear’s Review

Following a spell as a chef and more than 10 years in corporate banking, Richard Ellison set up Wanderlust Wine with the aim of offering top-tier wines from lesser-known producers. The firm ‘supplies consumers and over 1,000 on-trade and retail accounts, including Michelin-starred restaurants’.

The focus is on sustainability, and all wines offered on the site are organic. This includes natural and biodynamic wines, which are made using minimal machinery, intervention and chemicals.

Ellison notes that ‘provenance in food and wine is increasingly important. People are much more passionate about it and interested to explore’. Wanderlust’s wines are sourced directly from producers to ensure a fair price is reached, with vineyards getting well rewarded for their skill and care, and the buyer getting value for money at all price points.

The company also provides gifting and subscription services.
