Given the stellar year he had, it's not hard to see why Rory Lynch was shortlisted for Reputation Lawyer of the Year at the 2025 Spear's Awards.
Lynch, a partner and head of reputation management at Gateley Legal, acted for entrepreneurs Neil and Donna Sands in their case against the notorious gossip forum Tattle Life. The pair was awarded £300,000 in damages in June 2025 – the highest award given in Northern Ireland for a defamation case. 'We were able to prove that there is no such thing as online anonymity,' Lynch tells Spear's. 'We can find out who you are.'
Lynch specialises in media litigation, with a particular emphasis on reputation management and protection, libel and defamation, and privacy, and aims to safeguard clients from the forces of social media, the internet and the press. He has been known to work with celebrities, billionaires and royalty.
