Leeds-based wealth manager Jonathan Sands places emphasis on his availability to clients, explaining that he won a client from Goldman Sachs because he took an hour-and-a-half-long phone call through dinner one evening. The founder and director of Sands Wealth Management says there’s a £10 million to £20 million ‘sweet spot’ in his largely northern clientele, which also includes UHNWs.
For these clients he provides detailed, bespoke wealth management advice, including trust and estate planning, retirement and pension planning, and investment planning.
The secret to wealth management is ‘being passionate enough to care’, Sands notes. ‘If you care enough, it’s not just a corporate machine. At the very heart of it is finding out what [clients] want, forgetting the products – it’s finding out what they really want, and not presuming.’
