Ali Jamal is a former Kuwaiti army officer and Julius Baer ex-banker. He launched Azura Partners in 2019, saying that he had ‘big plans for the future of the firm’. With offices now up and running in London, Monaco, Dubai, Geneva, New York, Miami and Singapore, Jamal’s ambitious dreams have come to fruition. 

Jamal focuses on ‘very UHNW’ global clients, who tend to be highly entrepreneurial. His firm also offers family office services, investment advisory and ‘innovative club deals’.

He told Spear’s he is proud of the fact that Azura operates on a partnership model, with ‘a young, diverse and international team’. ‘We are all owners of the firm, thus instilling a sense of autonomy across our entire employee base to always act in the best interest of the client and be their first line of defence,’ he said.

Prior to founding Azura Partners in June 2019, Ali was a Managing Director and Head of Key Clients Emerging Markets at Julius Baer. In this position, he led the bank’s Key Clients division for Southern Europe, Middle East and Africa, working with UHNWIs, Family Offices, Institutions and Sovereign Wealth Funds.

While much of his experience stems from his extensive career, Ali also has a unique perspective, having served as an officer in the Kuwaiti Army for a decade. He has an undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering and has attended various Executive Education Programs, including at Cornell University, where he undertook Executive Management Programs. He is also an alumnus of Harvard Business School.
