There has been a notable shift in the financial planning industry, from advisers needing to be sales-based to being highly qualified and technical, reveals Gillian Piggot, Advanta Wealth’s head of private clients. She tells Spear’s that the company is ‘well ahead of the pace’, having dedicated a considerable amount of time towards overseeing ‘significant investments’ into the firm’s client-service capabilities.

Every penny is worth it, she says, recognising that ‘clients really value having a trusted adviser in challenging times’.

In her role as head of the firm’s London operation and right-hand woman to the CEO, Piggot is still passionately client-facing. She sees it as a duty to the HNW client book who depend on her: ‘It’s a really special relationship you build over time,’ she says.
