‘I wear two hats,’ says Jonathan Giles, the managing director of Rathbones Investment Management International in Jersey.

Despite his management role, Giles, who has almost four decades of experience in international private client service, is actively client-facing and looks after a range of portfolios for wealthy individuals and international families.

‘My role is to simplify complex problems and build long-standing advisory relationships,’ he says. In difficult times, he has found that clients are more focused than ever before on finding ‘a real return on their money’. But other things have remained the same: ‘People are still making money,’ he observes.
