Ptolemy Dean

Spear’s Review

Ptolemy Dean OBE will be well known to viewers of BBC Two’s Restoration series, which ran from 2003 to 2009. He is also an accomplished architect and surveyor of the fabric at Westminster Abbey, responsible for the upkeep, maintenance and restoration of the 600-year-old church.

In his private practice, Ptolemy Dean Architects, he specialises in conservation work on, and additions to, historic buildings – including stately homes and country houses, and new buildings in sensitive locations. Major projects include the restoration of Aldourie Castle in Scotland and the rebuilding of the Wren Wing at Easton Neston from designs by Nicholas Hawksmoor after its devastation by fire.

Dean sits on the National Trust Architectural Panel and Salisbury Cathedral Fabric Advisory Committee.
