‘I set up the business [in 1985], and we are going strong with lots of new blood,’ Thorp Design founder Philippa Thorp tells Spear’s.

Architecture and interior design are ‘symbiotic’ for Thorp, who mainly works on residential projects. The firm prides itself on its holistic approach, working with clients ‘from the first sketches’ through to completed projects, getting to know the end users intimately in order to articulate a way of living that suits their needs.

Thorp designs globally, from the Bahamas and the south of France to the Alps and London. Recently, she led the creation of a Lake Como holiday home for a UHNW international family, blending Italian artisanal materials with modern technology.

‘I always strive for perfection, so when it comes to defining [clients’] requirements, I take a meticulous approach,’ she says.
