Elegant contextual architecture that balances function with innovation and sustainability is at the heart of Ben Adams’ work. Founded in 2003, Ben Adams Architects’ projects have included bespoke West Coast homes, large-scale residential schemes and commercial buildings – such as Nobu’s hotel in Shoreditch.

Adams knows the power of architecture more than most. He has said that urbanisation and globalisation needn’t be negative things, but that architects do need to have a more involved debate on their cultural and environmental impact. 

His practice takes on projects internationally and has bases in London and Los Angeles. Architects at the firm are experienced collaborators and more than happy to work with end users to bring together preferred artisans and designers. ‘We’ve come up with an acronym for times like this,’ Adams says with a laugh when Spear’s asks about his design style: ‘FACES: we like to design buildings that are flexible, adaptable, commercial, equitable and sustainable.’
