Spear’s Review

Andy Sturgeon established his Brighton-based practice, Andy Sturgeon Garden Design, in 1988. Since then, he has been commissioned for projects across the UK and internationally. Among his projects of note is the award-winning Battersea Power Station roof gardens, which, he tells Spear’s, incorporate elements such as a ‘rooftop forest, cloud-like planting and courtyard gardens’.

With nine Gold medals and three Best in Show accolades at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show under his belt, the designer finds joy in unleashing his creativity. ‘We are an unusual practice in that we are not defined by a single aesthetic and instead thrive on the diversity of our projects,’ he says. ‘What unites them is a timeless atmospheric quality with a connection to nature and their surroundings.’
