Tom Stuart-Smith

Spear’s Review

Tom Stuart-Smith OBE studied zoology at the University of Cambridge before completing a postgraduate degree in landscape design. He went on to establish his own business in 1998 and has since designed gardens, parks and landscapes throughout the world. Stuart-Smith’s designs often combine naturalism with modernity and romantic planting.

Some of his projects include the Jubilee Garden at Windsor Castle for the late Queen Elizabeth II, show gardens for the international horticulture exhibition in Berlin, and Le Jardin Secret in the heart of Marrakech. His work on gardens for private clients has seen him travel across the world, from the Caribbean to Spain and India.

Stuart-Smith has won nine Gold medals at the Chelsea Flower Show, and three of his gardens claimed the coveted Best in Show award.

He regularly gives talks and lectures on garden design, and has written on the subject in the Financial Times, Guardian and Telegraph
