Spear’s Review

When commissioning a bespoke, high-end home from Undercover Architecture, one can be sure that founder Luke Chandresinghe will bring his signature innovation and creativity to the project

He is a ‘big fan’ of drawing and modelling, explaining that it is a ‘great way to explore ideas with a client, without making things seem too final’. The firm provides a bespoke service at every stage of a project and has built a niche in remodelling and extending historical London homes in a colourful, whimsical style.

Chandresinghe has an innovative and adventurous attitude towards design, influenced by architects such as John Lautner and Peter Zumthor. That’s been the case since he established Undercover with his wife, Estelle, back in 2012. ‘We start with an idea and build a story, taking inspiration from film, theatre and art,’ he explains. His work is also heavily influenced by Japanese architecture; he studied in the country for two years after winning the Daiwa Scholarship.
