Jamie Fobert

Spear’s Review

A challenging environment is no deterrent for Jamie Fobert CBE, founder of Jamie Fobert Architects, who is accustomed to designing buildings for complex sites. His commissions often require unique and innovative solutions to resolve testing constraints, and the firm is skilled at creating ‘an architecture of accommodation, knitting into existing fabric’.

Fobert left David Chipperfield Architects in 1996 to set up his own firm; initial solo projects included residences for artists such as Antony Gormley and Christopher Le Brun, and the firm continues to work on homes in the UK and abroad.

It has garnered several awards, particularly for its work on public buildings, including the RIBA National and London Awards for the redevelopment of the National Portrait Gallery; an English Heritage award for Anderson House; and BD Individual House Architect of the Year.
