Ashley Cox has spent more than three decades as a professional fiduciary and trustee in the UK, the Cayman Islands and Jersey, and today is Whitmill group managing director. From its Jersey base, with offices in London and Gibraltar, the firm provides trustee, corporate and fund administration services to private clients and the structures that hold their wealth.

Cox is one of the senior members of the team, and his day-to-day responsibilities vary from developing the team at Whitmill and establishing growth strategies to focusing on private clients and smaller fund relationships. The firm places a large emphasis on using expert knowledge by consulting geopolitical and tax specialists when assessing risk.

Cox joined Whitmill in 2020 and tells Spear’s that he was struck from the outset by how different it was from the firms he had worked at before. ‘It’s fiercely independent,’ he says. ‘This was something different that I saw as a challenge. There’s no ambition to be very large. The intention is simply to remain very client-focused and personal.’
