Clive Hopewell is a highly experienced partner at Bird & Bird, where he heads up the firm’s international capital markets practice. 

Hopewell is an expert when it comes to advising international business ventures, particularly those planning to acquire, merge, list or raise funds on capital markets. He also advises private equity principals on multi-jurisdictional investments and has worked in the Middle East with ‘large ruling families’, as well as in other emerging markets. Clients include Alpha FX and Gamma Communications. 

When asked what new entrepreneurs have to keep in mind when going to market, Hopewell tells Spear’s: ‘You need to get investors in early before going to market so that you’ve got someone to cornerstone the listing.’

Prior to joining Bird & Bird in 2017, he spent more than two decades at Charles Russell (now Charles Russell Speechlys), where he focused on helping entrepreneurial clients grow their businesses.
