Svetlana London is the managing partner of CIS London & Partners, an independent law firm advising corporate and private clients on matters that involve the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) countries, as well as Ukraine and Georgia.

‘We are leading experts on Russian, Belarusian and Kazakhstan law, which is a very rare specialism for a London firm,’ she tells Spear’s.

Her clients are typically private clients or corporations who have a personal or commercial connection to the CIS region; they require dual-qualified legal advice on issues such as divorce and separation, inheritance tax mitigation and M&A. 

‘We represent a number of big family offices who like that we understand [Russian and English] legal systems and can help them source the best cross-border expertise,’ she explains. 

London originally graduated as a Russian-qualified lawyer from the Lomonosov Moscow State University in 2006. Since moving to the UK, she has completed a graduate diploma in law course, a legal practice course and received an LLM in professional legal practice from BPP University.
