‘I was always interested in sailing,’ said Hill Dickinson partner and member of the firm’s yacht team James Lawson. ‘I’d had a background in clinical negligence and corporate law, and when this opportunity arose it was the perfect mix of insurance and general commercial work – with superyachts as the subject matter.’

Now with almost 20 years at the firm, Lawson said he enjoys ‘applying principles of law to a very bespoke project with specific requirements. It’s marrying up theoretical legal knowledge with a practical, very specialised and creative area of work.’ The team has a loyal UHNW clientele, with specialists in every area pertaining to superyacht law, including finance and registration.
