Stephan Ludwig, CEO of Gurr Johns Capital, the art financing arm of Gurr Johns, has had a long career in debt structuring and art.

The former managing director at Credit Suisse founded Forum Auctions, a digital platform for the sale of art and collectibles. He now combines his twin skill sets at Gurr Johns. ‘The core discipline of responsible asset-backed lending is not fundamentally different from more traditional collateralised lending, and I feel like I am increasingly revisiting experiences from my previous career,’ he told Spear’s.

In addition to financing, Gurr Johns provides appraisals and valuations of individual art pieces as well as collections, other valuables and collectibles. They assess more than $10 billion of art every year.
