After a decade at Fiskens, where he worked his way up the ranks to business manager, James Mitchell founded Pendine, focusing on the sales British motors from the post-war period through to the 1970s. Based in Bicester – a dream environment for classic car fans – its showroom doubles as a platform for its exceptional collection.

‘We tend to only buy the best,’ Mitchell says. ‘We’re working within a community of like-minded specialists who support each other. We also have a private demonstration track and don’t have to risk a client’s car by taking them out on the road.’ 

One recent highlight to pass through the garage was one of the earliest surviving Jaguar E-types, which had not been seen since 1984.
