Merlin McCormack
Spear’s Review
‘I’m always keen to give advice, and if I don’t think someone should buy one of my cars, I’ll tell them,’ says Merlin McCormack, who started classic car and supercar dealership Duke of London in 2014.
Cars are in his blood; he helped restore classics in the Romance of Rust restoration workshop owned by his father Lance McCormack when he was 8, and was making a profit selling marques on eBay by the age of 11.
McCormack became a private equity broker in the City before returning to the workshop after some advice he gave to a client of his father’s ‘snowballed into a business’.
In addition to specialising in the acquisition and sale of collector cars, motorcycles and bicycles, today Duke of London’s warehouse-based showroom includes event spaces, a coffee shop, listening bar and co-working space – all centred around a love of cars.
