Merlin McCormack
Spear’s Review
‘I’m always keen to give advice, and if I don’t think someone should buy one of my cars, I’ll tell them,’ says Merlin McCormack, who started Duke of London in 2015 at the tender age of 20. Cars are in his blood; he helped restore classics in the Romance of Rust workshop owned by his father and fellow Spear’s listee Lance McCormack when he was 8, and was making a profit selling marques on eBay by the age of 11.
McCormack became a private equity broker in the City before returning to the workshop after some advice he gave to a client of his father’s ‘snowballed into a business’. Today, Duke of London specialises in the acquisition and sale of collector cars, motorcycles and bicycles, as well as organising social events and running venues centred around the love of cars.
