Tom Hartley Jnr’s dealership is one of the very few that owns the stock it sells.

‘We take the risk, and it gives our clients the peace of mind that we’ve done our due diligence on the car,’ says Hartley, who has been operating in top marques since he was 11, working in his father’s business before setting up his own firm in Leicestershire.

‘I’m very fortunate that my business is my hobby and my hobby is my business,’ he adds. Sales have included a ‘fantastic’ Ferrari 250 California Spyder, and stock often consists of classic and modern Ferrari, Aston Martin and Mercedes Benz cars. The market is increasingly discerning, he says. ‘People are starting to realise that if you’re going to collect cars, only buy the very best stuff.’
