‘Building your own private library brings the most wonderful sense of reward,’ says Ben Scott, an experienced book dealer who worked at two established firms in Mayfair before starting his own business, B.B. Scott Private Libraries and Fine Books.
Over the years he has assisted internationally dispersed HNWs, members of the royal family, senior politicians and Middle Eastern royalty to assemble and add to their collections. ‘It is about carefully applying a wide knowledge and understanding towards meeting the expectations of the client,’ he says.
His work has brought him to holiday homes in the Caribbean, London private members’ clubs and even superyachts. He said that ‘curating around 300 titles on East African culture for a house in Kenya was a memorable and personal favourite’ experience.
