Mahie Abey

Mahie Abey, head of family law at East Sussex-based Dawson Hart, practised as a matrimonial barrister in London from 1993 to 2001 after leaving Cambridge University with a law degree. Re-qualifying as a solicitor in 2004, he joined Dawson Hart as head of the family department in 2005. He has since become a trained mediator and family law arbitrator.
‘I have maintained very good contacts with the bar, other solicitors, the judiciary and professionals throughout my career, and continue to receive many referrals from those sources,’ he says of his time as a barrister.
Abey, who specialises in all areas of family law, has particular expertise in dealing with high-value financial disputes, particularly those involving businesses, farms and pensions. He is also well-versed in complex children matters.
