Spear’s Review

Judith Seddon started out at an employment law firm that concentrated on representing trade unions, but it wasn't long before she became convinced that her future was in criminal law.

‘I ended up working as a trainee on a big fraud case, representing an individual. That sealed my fate,’ she tells Spear’s. She joined Ashurst – now Ashurst Perkins Coie – in 2024 as a partner, and divides her time between corporate clients and individuals, and representing witnesses and defendants in criminal and regulatory matters.

This has included some complex, very high-profile cases, as well as cross-jurisdictional cases in which she worked with her American counterparts.

‘There’s never a dull moment,’ she says. ‘Sometimes the biggest cases come completely from left field.’
