Over her more than 20-year career, Laura Briggs KC has built a sterling reputation across the field of children law, with a knack for complex public and private cases. The 1GC barrister’s public law work has included representing both applicant local authorities and respondent families in care proceedings, many involving historical abuse, non-accidental injury and radicalisation.

In her private client work, Briggs acts for parents and children in cases involving domestic abuse, allegations of emotional harm and issues relating to parental mental health. 

She is familiar with cross-jurisdictional disputes, having previously worked as an attorney in the Cayman Islands, and also represents applicants for adoption in international and domestic cases.
