Edward Bennett

Spear’s Review

Since his call to the Bar in 2013, Edward Bennett of Harcourt Chambers has garnered a reputation for advising UHNWs and celebrities in matters relating to international children law, including surrogacy, adoption and abduction.

Bennett sits on the editorial board of the International Family Law Journal – he was editor between 2015 and 2020 – and is a member of several family law committees. In addition to his children work, he is recognised as a leading authority in peerage and baronetcy law, an intricate practise due in part, Bennett explains, to the fact that the latest comprehensive tome on English peerage law was published in 1907.

Due to the nature of his work and clients, Bennett emphasises that his approach is always centred on ‘discretion, and brutal honesty’. Nevertheless, he tells Spear’s: ‘If (clients) want a Rottweiler, they can go somewhere else.’
