A partner at Freemans Solicitors, family lawyer Mark Kosmin is ‘committed to finding practical, creative and cost-effective solutions for clients’. His specialities include inheritance disputes, divorces, cohabitation and marital agreements, financial arrangements and civil partnerships.

He is also experienced in handling matters relating to child abduction and is a founding member of the Child Abduction Lawyers Association, which helps connect representation with parents and governments around the world in such cases.

Having qualified as a solicitor in 1997, Kosmin moved to Freemans in 2012. He has since acted on a wide range of cases, many of which have inevitably demanded high levels of arbitration and litigation. However, he encourages amicable resolutions, especially in cases where children are involved.

As Head of the Family Finance Team, Kosmin is used to dealing with highly complex matters, including international cases. Kosmin has represented individuals from a wide variety of backgrounds, personal circumstances and professions, particularly HNW work. Recent cases include: 

• a) Successful resolution of a highly complex financial remedies case involving assets in the UK, USA and Canada; 
• b) Settlement of a financial remedies case for a HNW client involving complex assets in England and France, whereby substantial non-marital assets were ringfenced and a clean break achieved; 
• c) Successfully opposing an application for third party disclosure made against HNW clients and obtaining a costs order against the applicant.
