Nicola Harries leads the family team at Stevens & Bolton, which is one of the leading law firms in Surrey. 

Her caseload focuses on matrimonial finances and ranges from prenups for partners at Magic Circle law firms to financial proceedings involving assets upwards of £80 million.

The court system worries her: ‘The courts are on their knees. We are using private options more and more. This is fine for our clients, but it is leading to a two-tier system.’

A memorable career moment? Harries tells Spear’s of a time she found herself ‘calming down a client before she gave evidence in the High Court and encouraging her not to drink too much of the pre-mixed G&T that was masquerading as Evian’.
