Ian Walker has built Walker Family Law (formerly Ian Walker Family Law and Mediation Solicitors) into a thriving Exeter-based boutique.

Walker is one of south-west England’s leading family law practitioners: he is a former chair of the Devon branch of Resolution, a role he held for 12 years, and a former trustee of the Family Mediators Association. He and his firm have a string of Law Society and other awards to their names, and in 2024 Walker was elected to Resolution’s National Committee for a three-year term.

He has earned his reputation by working on complicated cases, often involving mental health, alcohol problems and sexual and gender identity issues, with sensitivity and focus. The firm has a divorce coach attached to assist clients with their journey through separation – apart from the courts – and Walker undertakes various forms of mediation, being accredited by the Family Mediation Council.
