Josh Baron’s work with family businesses began on the philanthropic side. After a stint at Bain & Company he worked for the Bridgespan Group, an organisation helping companies to increase their social impact. He then moved to a family business consultancy, where he met Rob Lachenaur, with whom he would found BanyanGlobal.

Banyan is an advisory service for the world’s leading family enterprises. It seeks to make them ‘more effective owners’ as they make important decisions and navigate significant transitions. 

‘I really believe in the power, the benefits, the impact that comes with family businesses,’ says Baron, who now holds a senior adviser role at Banyan alongside his position as a senior lecturer at Harvard Business School. ‘When they go right, it’s a much more sustainable form of capitalism.’
