In June 2025, Weatherbys Hamilton announced its departure from Weatherbys Private Bank following the former’s acquisition by American insurance giant Brown & Brown. The deal marks a significant step in Brown & Brown’s continued expansion into the UK market and a strategic move for Weatherbys Hamilton to broaden its insurance offering among international UHNWs.

Alec Moore, joint chief executive of Weatherbys Hamilton, will remain in his role. With over 30 years of experience in the insurance industry, Moore provides private client services for family offices, entrepreneurs and landed estates across the country. 

‘After 13 years in partnership with Weatherbys Private Bank, both parties agreed that the future of Weatherbys Hamilton is best served with a partner whose sole focus is insurance,’ the firm said in a statement upon the acquisition.

Weatherbys Hamilton is well known for its expertise in bloodstock and landed estate insurance. Operating from Newmarket, the heart of British horseracing, Moore maintains long-standing relationships with landed families, owners and breeders across the racing world.
