Victoria Papworth was a specialist philanthropy adviser at Coutts and director of the Coutts Institute before taking over as CEO of NatWest Social and Community Capital, which administers a large endowment established by the bank in the late 1990s.

‘Our remit is to invest in other charities and social enterprises across the UK,’ she said. 

Papworth is working with private clients to generate capital for the charity. ‘[I’m trying to] get some private funded money into social investment, to sit alongside both the private company endowment that we have and the broader public funds that have come through.

‘Layering that up with some philanthropic investment, whether that’s a direct grant to NatWest Social and Community Capital or whether it’s for an individual to make their own social investments through us, I think it offers some really interesting space for reflection.’
